What is the ILL? In an effort to maximize learning, each student will need to keep an individual, personal learning log or interactive notebook, which will be a way for you to measure your day-by-day progress. Hopefully, by completing this each class period, you will be able to:
1. process and retain language arts concepts more easily 2. use it to review for quizzes and tests 3. keep track of assignments, homework, and class progress 4. maintain a tool for reference throughout the year 5. have a study tool for the EOG 6. personalize your learning experience in language arts What do I need? 1. 5-subject spiral notebook (at least 8.5" by 11") or a 1-2 inch binder 2. Glue sticks 3. Colored pencils or markers 4. scissors How is it set up?The ILL will consist of two sections:
1. Interactive Learning Log: The front part of the notebook will be organized as follows: a. A date for each entry b. A page number for each entry (as assigned by teacher) c. Notes, skills checks, study guides, and other teacher provided content d. Processing activities such as letters, artwork, stories, speeches, scripts, concept maps, outlines, etc. 2. Writer's Journal/Writing into the Day: In this section of the notebook, students will write into the day. *We will start the learning log section from the front of the notebook and the writer's journal section from the back. By the end of the year, let's hope to meet in the middle! |
